Using Google Suites with Interactive Displays
Welcome to our latest blog post, where we highlight the use of Google Suites with QOMO Interactive Displays. As educators and technology coordinators, you’re constantly looking for tools that not only enhance the learning experience but also simplify your teaching processes. Google Suites has been a prevalent tool in this regard, offering a range of applications that foster collaboration, creativity, and efficiency in the classroom.
Background on Google Suites
Google Suite, also known as G Suite for Education, offers a variety of apps with specific benefits for the educational sector. Google Suites has become a favorite in education due to its flexibility in allowing multiple people to contribute and edit files in live time. It is also easy to distribute, present, and gather content with a group of people. Here’s a summary of each app and how it enhances the educational experience:
- Google Docs: This word processor allows students and teachers to create and edit documents online. It supports real-time collaboration, making it perfect for group projects and peer reviews. The commenting and suggestion features facilitate feedback and interaction between students and educators.
- Google Sheets: This spreadsheet application is great for math and science classes, where data analysis and visualization are key. Students can learn about data management, create charts, and work collaboratively on data-driven projects. It also helps in organizing grades, attendance, and other administrative tasks.
- Google Slides: A presentation tool that’s user-friendly and versatile. It’s great for creating interactive presentations and encourages student creativity. Like Docs, it supports real-time collaboration and is ideal for group assignments and digital storytelling.
- Google Forms: This tool is used for creating surveys, quizzes, and feedback forms. It’s beneficial for conducting assessments, gathering data, and receiving feedback from students and parents. The automatic grading feature in quizzes can save teachers a significant amount of time.
- Google Classroom: A platform that streamlines the process of sharing files and communicating with students. Teachers can create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized. It integrates seamlessly with other Google Suite apps, making it a central hub for course management.
- Google Drive: A cloud storage service that allows users to save files online and access them from any device. It’s crucial for storing and sharing educational material, ensuring that students and teachers can access their work from anywhere.
- Google Calendar: This app helps in scheduling classes, assignments, exams, and meetings. It’s a vital tool for time management and keeping track of important educational events and deadlines.
- Google Meet: A video communication service that’s essential for remote learning, virtual parent-teacher meetings, and online collaboration. It allows for real-time video classes and meetings, fostering a connected learning environment.
- Google Sites: A website creation tool that’s useful for student projects and e‑portfolios. It allows students and teachers to create websites for class projects, clubs, or as a platform to showcase student work.
- Google Keep: A note-taking service that helps in organizing notes and ideas. It’s useful for both students and teachers for jotting down reminders, creating to-do lists, and keeping track of important educational notes.
Each of these apps contributes uniquely to creating an interactive, collaborative, and organized educational environment. They are designed to be accessible and user-friendly, ensuring that technology enhances the learning experience rather than complicating it. Now, pair this with the QOMO Interactive Flat Panel. Utilizing Google Suites with QOMO Interactive Flat Panels
There are several ways to access your Google Suites on your Interactive Flat Panels, but here are the top recommended choices.
- Direct connection from laptop: Connect your laptop through HDMI and USB A‑B to the Interactive Flat Panel to display and control your computer on the Interactive Flat Panel. Newer Interactive displays, such as the BundleBoard H allows you to use a single USB C cable to transmit the image and touch of your computer.
- Wireless Casting: Through the wireless casting app that is built into QOMO Interactive Flat Panels, eShare, the presenter can wirelessly cast their computer or tablet to the interactive display to showcase their google apps.
- Native App Integration: The BundleBoard H Interactive Flat Panel has native Google Suites integration that allows you to open your google suites just by logging into Google Play Store. From here, you can freely display your google apps.
- Chrome Flex OPS: Qomo offers a Chrome Flex slot in computer that can be slotted into older Interactive Flat Panels that may no longer support the Google Apps. This is a great and affordable way to utilize the Google Suites and minimizing cable.
- Brower mode: You can access some of your google apps by opening the browser on your interactive display, going to settings, and clicking desktop mode. This will exit out of the android web browser and replicate a desktop web browser.
Additional Tools to enhance Google Classrooms
Through utilization of the overlay annotation that is built into the QOMO Interactive Flat Panels, you can draw on top of any document that you pull up on the display. The drawing tool can be found on the side toolbar of the display. To save the content, click the save button to save it into the internal memory of the board, which can be accessed through the file manager. You can also plug in a USB drive and screen shot the overlay annotation directly onto your USB drive when it is plugged in. Alternatively, on the newer BundleBoard H Interactive Flat Panels, you can generate a QR code and save the overlay annotation directly onto your phone or tablet.
